Sinus Symptoms and Treatments
Sinus infection, or also known as sinusitis caught a number of people in the country in every year. It is the result of an infection of bacteria occur on the nasal system which may lead into swelling, and at that point, the air been blocked causes pressure inside, and result on the extreme headache. Beside of bacteria, fungi may also cause the chronic sinusitis, especially on those whom having immunity reduction by certain disease, such as AIDS, leukemia, and diabetes. There are certain also conditions that may lead into sinus problems, mainly are allergies and cold. Those whom always having sinus problems should consider preventing having such humidity, cold, and other condition that may trigger the allergies.
The usual sinus infection symptoms are headache, sore throat, and yellowish or greenish nasal discharge, while there also number of people recorded having fever and facial tenderness. The acute sinusitis usually occur less than 8 weeks, which it means it’s not more than 3 times in each year, while chronic sinusitis can last longer than 8 weeks, with more than 4 times occurring in a year.
About the treatment, at the beginning of sinus infection symptom, patient may be given only the counter headache medications and to reduce the pains caused. As the follow up medication if it’s not last for weeks, then doctor will directed to antibiotics since that it assumed the patient has infection inside. And this antibiotic treatment is usually given for 10 to 14 days, and may be continued to over 21 days as long as it needed. However if the Sinus infection is still occurred and antibiotics hasn’t giving any effects, then there should be physically drained. It is a surgical procedure where patient have to spend days at the hospital for intensive treatment. There are rare cases of complications also occurred and this may cause into death though.
